What the hell is this?

Who are you?

Hi. I’m Lars.

Online I usually go by ‘Problemen’, unless someone has already taken that name and I have to make up some ‘xXPr0Bl3menXxNoScopexX’ nonsense. I do many things, but online I’m mostly gaming or writing. I’ve been doing both ever since I was a small child, leading me to become a semi-pro gamer for a while (which basically meant that I was paid around 20 dollars a month for pwning noobs) and an editor of our high school newspaper. These illustrious achievements were only the beginning of my career.

I kept writing (and gaming) and thanks to some incredibly lucky scenarios I managed to land some gigs as a columnist (I used to be the resident columnist for a pretty large Dutch website which has gone tits up since then for some reason) and freelance writer some years ago.  That got the ball rolling and now I’m in a position where I can say that my work has been read by at least 500 people.

No, but seriously. What started off as me being a translator (I’m fluent in English and Dutch) and technical writer for some beer money at university evolved into what I am now; a published writer of sorts. Yeah, I know that that’s not that big of an achievement. And no, I didn’t graduate university.

What is this?

This is just a website that a friend set up for me. By that I mean that he paid for the hosting etc. and I slapped a WordPress theme on it.

When I tell people that I do a bit of writing every now and then they often ask ‘can I read something?‘ and I mostly have to answer ‘no‘ since most of the shit I write is either for print or subscription based stuff or weird technobabble articles. Here I can drop stuff that isn’t super specialized. Some of it will have been published in some way or form, some of it won’t. It’s just a way for me to log all of this, I really don’t have any big plans for this website or anything.
